From September 9-14, 2026, Excelsior Springs will welcome the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall to Piburn Field in its historic downtown for a community tribute to Vietnam veterans, their families, and those whose names are etched on the Wall. The locally created companion displays, “Not Forgotten,” are open now at the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives, sharing local stories from the Vietnam War era, including the stories of the 24 servicemen from Excelsior Springs and neighboring communities whose names appear on the Wall. This is a free event.

About the Wall

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is an approximate 3/5-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. Standing six feet tall at its center and stretching nearly 300 feet from end to end, the Wall offers a place of reflection and healing. As visitors search for familiar names, the ground before the Wall becomes sacred — a place where memories, gratitude, and hope converge.
