Barbara June Dykes, 78, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, in Excelsior Springs, Mo.  

Barbara was born July 8, 1939, in Orrick, Mo. She is the daughter of the late Randolph and the late Opal (Barber) Fields. 

Barbara was a licensed cosmetologist, owning her own shop in Excelsior Springs for many years. After closing the shop, she worked at Whitaker Cable as a machine operator, before moving on to Tredegar Plastics, from where she retired.

Barbara loved playing bingo and enjoyed spending time at the lake. She spent her lifetime travelling throughout the United States. Her all-time favorite place to visit was Deadwoods, S.D. She also liked camping at Deer Valley Park with her lifelong friends.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Ranny Wayne Fields, and her nephew Mike Fields.

Barbara is survived by a daughter, Sherry Adams, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, May 11, from 12-1:30 p.m. at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m., Friday, May 11, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Richmond, Mo. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Christian Union Church, 15701 Salem Rd., Excelsior Springs, MO 64024, or at salemcu.org.
