Jim has been a good friend of our family since I was young. He was full of life, had a jovial laugh and always made me smile. I will miss him dearly. Heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Betty and his family.

Jim was a favorite Norborne son and graduated with the class of 1954. He always had a smile and was a thoughtful caring person. Sincere sympathy to Betty and family.

With my father living so far away from us and my husbands father passed away when he was a child Mr. Berning was my kids “ grandfather” growing up. My daughter would go down and spend hours talking to Jim and Betty. We moved south about 3 years ago and around Christmas time my daughter would call and talk a bit. We sure will miss him❤️❤️❤️

I first met Jim when I stayed the night with Sara in grade school. It was her birthday and Betty added my name to the cake since mine was the day before Sara’s. It has been 40+ years and Sara and I have lost touch. However, every time I would see Jim at Wal-Mart or Price Chopper, he would always speak and ask how I was doing. I would ask about Sara and he would always fill me in. My prayers go out to you and your family. He will be missed…Marsha
