Anna Belle Hanks (Gilby), 96, born Sept. 24, 1927, the only child of Joseph William Gilby and Erma Amanda Stout Gilby, passed away Dec. 12, 2023, at Norterre in Liberty. She had been a resident there since July 12, 2023.

On June 5, 1954, she married Keith Carroll Hanks, who preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1986. She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Anna Belle was a graduate of Lawson High School. Her later employment was with Mobil Oil Co. in Kansas City.

She liked to crochet, quilt, embroider and do counted cross stitch, as well as work crossword puzzles and read. She also liked to travel, and made many bus trips and went on many cruises.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home.
