Arlene Lucille Holtzclaw, 87, of Excelsior Springs passed away Dec. 26, 2020, at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin.

Arlene was born on March 31, 1933, in Spickard, the daughter of Talbert and Effie (Fair) King. She was united in marriage to Jack J. Holtzclaw Sept. 4, 1950. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her daughter, Patricia K. Long (Dennis) of Excelsior Springs; sons, Jerry Holtzclaw (Virginia) of Mesa, Arizona, and Benjamin Holtzclaw (Amanda) of Brevard, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jason Long (Stacy), Kristina Busby (Roger), Samantha Holtzclaw, Brandon Hudlemeyer (Rhonda), Kyle Hudlemeyer (Brooke) and Matthew Holtzclaw; great-grandchildren, Tyler Long (Destiny), Sean Long, Bryson Busby, Christopher Hudlemeyer and Benjamin Hudlemeyer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her fatherin-law, Henry Holtzclaw; her mother-in-law, Edna; one daughter, Jacqueline L. (Holtzclaw) Hudlemeyer; one son, Henry M. Holtzclaw (Sue); her brothers, Rex Hubert, Donald, Edward, Harold and Edward King; her sisters, Ruth Pettegrew (Ray), and Ann Anderson; and niece, Janet Pettegrew.

Arlene was baptized at a young age. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Excelsior Springs. She grew up in Trenton and graduated from Trenton High School.

After marriage, Arlene traveled with Jack for his work as a construction superintendent before settling in Excelsior Springs. Arlene spent her time as a homemaker and raising their five children. She enjoyed her family with many wonderful gatherings. She also was an amazing quilter, completing numerous beautiful quilts which her family continues to enjoy. She was a member of the Calico Quilters Quilt Club, participating in numerous projects and quilt showings. She worked many years at Western Auto in Excelsior Spring and for 15 years at William Jewell College in Liberty, where she retired.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Bross & Spidle Funeral Home.
