Charles Omar Garrett passed away peacefully Thursday May 20, 2021, at his home in Excelsior Springs, MO. He was born to Omar and Marjorie Garrett in Sedalia, MO.

He is survived by the love of his life Roberta (Berta) who he was married to for 47 years.

He is also survived by his son, Travis Barker; his grandsons Blake Garrett and Garrett Barker; three granddaughters, Kayla Barker, Alli Lucht, and Makenzie Garrett; and a great-granddaughter Freya Fears.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Dale Garrett; and a son Charley Garrett.

Charley was a long-time resident of ES and lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He was a pipefitter with Local Union #533 and retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Salem Christian Union Church. He enjoyed outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends and playing cards. He never met a stranger and was known for his luck.

He served his country earning a "Green Beret" in the US Army Special Forces and served in Operation Desert Storm with the US Naval Reserve.

Visitation will be Monday May 24, 2021, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. A brief service will be held at 6:30 p.m.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
