Eddie Holly, Jr. of Excelsior Springs, MO passed away unexpectedly at his home on Jan. 7, 2022, at the age of 66. Eddie was the beloved husband of Belinda Jane Holly and proud dog-parent to Sophie and Bear. 

He was a wonderful and caring family man who is survived by his children, Shawn Holly and his wife Jenny of Marshall, MO, Keashia Moore of Marshall, MO, Shay Bates and his wife Chelsey of the Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Daron McCyza and his wife Yuli of Kansas City, MO, Justin Hoffman and his husband Derek of Kansas City, MO, and Heather Black and her husband Ken of Storm Lake, IA. His bear hugs (and Papa’s snack basket) will be missed by his 11 grandchildren.   

Eddie was born on Dec. 9, 1955, to Eddie & Ruth Ellen (White) Holly, Sr. in Carrolton, MO and is affectionately known as Bubby to his brother, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Bubby is survived by one brother, Mark Holly and his wife Dalynne of Columbia, MO; three sisters, Carmen Deneice Robinson of Carrollton, MO, Carolyn Holly of Richmond, MO, and Donna Holly of Richmond, MO.  

He is preceded in death by six sisters, Janet Holly, Jacklene Wayland, Ruth Ann Johnson, Edna Holly, Zona Henderson and Dorothy Ellen Thompson 

Eddie grew up with a love of sports and played football all through high school, and he remained an avid Chiefs and Royals fan his entire life. He worked at Banquet Foods for five years before transitioning to Norfolk Southern Railroad where he retired in 2015 after 39 years of service where his last position was as a Machine Operator. 

Eddie loved to fish and spend time outdoors, and he was most often spotted with a glass of Jack Daniels and a few scratcher tickets. Two of his favorite activities after retirement were his morning coffee dates with his mother and father-in-law, Darrell and Shirley Brewer, and spending time at home with Boss #1 and Boss #2. Eddie was always known to be a “giant teddy bear” with a kind spirit and willingness to listen and help anyone he could.  

The family has chosen to honor Eddie with a casual Celebration of Life on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022 from noon to 3 p.m. at The Montgomery, 425 S. Thompson Ave, Excelsior Springs, MO. Family and friends will honor his love for comfort (and hatred of dressing up) by wearing jeans and Chief’s shirts. Masks are required.  In the spirit of the casual Celebration of Life, the family requests donations to The American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
