Evelyn Josephine Jones

February 13, 1936­—December 29, 2018

Evelyn Josephine Jones, 82, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018.

Evelyn was born Feb. 13, 1936, to Obed Paul Barber and Grace Evelyn (Brown) Barber in Gallatin, Missouri. She married Robert Jones on Aug. 7, 1954. She was a homemaker all her life, raising seven children. She loved everyone, enjoyed fishing, was an avid book reader, loved puzzles, going for long rides in the country and being the neighborhood Grandma. She loved attending the community center and Mosby Opry, listening to their music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Steven Barber and Jack Barber; one sister: Betty Clariday; husband: Robert E Jones; one grandson: Nathan Schoolfield; and one great-granddaughter: Mystic Angel Rae Ferrell.

She leaves behind one brother: Conrad Keith Barber of Montrose, Colorado; one son: Paul Jones of Lathrop, Missouri; six daughters: Roberta Nordsiek of Richmond, Missouri, Sherry Roller of Excelsior Springs, Judy Johnson of Lathrop, Virginia (and Jeff) Askren of Excelsior Springs, Rhonda (and Dave) O’Dell of Breckenridge, Colorado, and Amanda (and Jeremy) Romazon of Excelsior Springs; six grandsons: Matt Schoolfield of Excelsior Springs, Robert Stoufer of Independence, Missouri, Quinn Livingston of Kansas City, Missouri, Devin Baxter of Excelsior Springs, John Askren of Garden City, Missouri and Caleb Romazon of Excelsior Springs; three granddaughters: Heather Ward of Minnesota; April Ward of Wisconsin and Keira Romazon of Excelsior Springs; three great-grandsons, six great-granddaughters and numerous family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all those who knew her.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 from noon-1 p.m., at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Graveside Services will follow at 1 p.m., at the cemetery behind the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for a donation in Evelyn’s name to either breast cancer research, dementia support or NorthCare Hospice House, 2800 Clay Edwards Drive, 2nd Floor, North Kansas City, MO 64116.
