Everett Duncan McDaniel of Excelsior Springs passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025. Graveside services were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. Duncan was born Jan. 28, 1937, to Homer and Pearl (Houston) McDaniel in Excelsior Springs. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School and then worked in management at A & P grocery stores, as a truck driver and as a house painter.

He also proudly served many years of active duty in the U.S. Army and in the Air Force Reserve, from which he retired as a sergeant.

Duncan was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Leila Lynette McDaniel; parents; and eight siblings, Kenneth, Homer Glen, John Billy, Gerald, Joseph, Betty, Delores and Donna.

Survivors include his sons, Jeff (Lee) and Tim (Patricia); cherished grandchildren, Haiden, Ben, Molly, Megan and Luca; great-grandchildren, Emma and Evie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was especially grateful to his nephew, Kirk Woods; and niece, Rene Sisk, for the exceptional love and care they showed toward him.
