George Thomas Williams, 96, of Excelsior Springs died June 13, 2021, after a long and very interesting life. He was born on Nov. 24, 1924, to George and Clara Williams in Waco, TX and was a Navy veteran of World War II, enlisting when he was 17. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Martin, in Waco in 1947 and they had 71 wonderful years together before her death in 2018.

Enjoying a challenge, George had several careers as a preacher, a police officer, an engineer at an aviation manufacturer, and communications director at Union Pacific Railroad, from which he retired in 1986. He and Dorothy moved to Excelsior Springs in retirement, bred Appaloosa horses, and established and sold two photography studios, providing wedding memories to many local couples.  He also was a skilled musician, playing several instruments, and performing at church, at nursing homes, and with a local country music band.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, his daughter Lynna, and his sister Audrey.  He is survived by his son Marty (Terrie) Williams, grandson Devon (Lisa) Fulton, and great grandchildren Alexander Fulton and Bridgette Fulton, along with many dear friends.
