Glenda Minnick

Glenda Lenore Minnick, 88, of Richmond passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, on what would have been her 65th wedding anniversary at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron. Glenda was born on Dec. 26, 1934, in Ray County on the family farm, the daughter of Glenn P. and Mary M. (Denton) Lamb. She was united to Robert Thomas “Bob” Minnick of Richmond on May 24, 1958. He preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2013.

Survivors include: three sons, Mark David Jacob Minnick, Chris (Carmen) Minnick and Andy Paul (Karen) Minnick, all of Richmond; five grandchildren, Chance (Geraldine) Minnick, Clinton (Blythe) Minnick, Ashley (Billy) Clark, Tyler (Hunter) Minnick and Cheyane Minnick; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Zita Lamb of New Hampshire, Janelle Criscone of St. Louis and Mary Joyce (John) Shepherd of Excelsior Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Glenn Paul Lamb; and a daughter-in-law, Kristen Meredith Minnick.

Glenda was reared and educated in Richmond and Excelsior Springs. She graduated in the class of 1952 from Excelsior Springs High School.

After high school, she attended Central State College in Warrensburg. After college, she went into the U.S. Air Force and was trained as a flight nurse.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force, she attended St. Mary’s Nurses Training in Kansas City. Glenda then worked as a nurse until starting her career with Hallmark, where she worked for 25 years until she retired.

Glenda also was a school bus driver for the Richmond R-XVI School District. She was a big animal lover and at one time had a petting zoo.

Glenda and her husband loved to dance. She was a great cook and of the Christian faith.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Richmond VFW or to the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial services will be held on Friday, June 2, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation starting at 2 p.m. and services to follow at 3. Inurnment with her husband will be in Todd’s Chapel Cemetery west of Richmond. Full military honors to be provided by Ray County Veterans and the Air Force.
