Jack O’Dell of Excelsior Springs died Jan. 17, 2023, at Liberty Hospital of complications from sepsis.

Jack was the beloved husband of Cynthia O’Dell; the treasured father of Jonathan and Justin O’Dell; and grandfather of Natalie, Jack, Lexen and Eilish O’Dell.

He was a devoted Excelsiorite, a longtime member and former president of the Excelsior Springs School District.

Jack loved his friends and neighbors, and was a proud member of the Excelsior Springs Golf Club, where he once hit a hole-in-one. He loved music from country to Motown to opera and Broadway show tunes, and he was a voracious reader. Jack’s joy and zest for life were a light to his family and his community and he will be most deeply missed.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at Bross-Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
