Jack R. Arnold, 88, of Excelsior Springs, passed away July 26, 2020, at Liberty Hospital after a brief hospice.

Jack was the son of Arlie T. Arnold and Zada (Corley) Arnold. He was born Valentine’s Day, 1932, at the home around Shallowater, Texas. Jack spent the early part of his years in the Lubbock and Hockley counties of northwest Texas. Jack graduated from Shallowater High School, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Giles. Jack also did coursework at West Texas A & M University in Canyon, Texas.

Jack was a farmer and truck driver before going to work for Greyhound Bus Lines, where he spent the majority of his career. He received many letters of commendation for his work as a bus driver.

After retirement, Jack became a gentleman farmer/ entrepreneur, buying and trading land and cattle in northwest Missouri and northwest Texas.

Jack was a devout Christian, giving generously to Daily Bread, In Touch, Christian Worship Hour, Billy Graham and the Bethel Church in Polo, Missouri.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Zada (Corley) Arnold; father, Arlie T. Arnold; father’s wife, Virginia (Gibson) Arnold; the mother of his children, Shirley (Giles) McHugh; and grandson, Tyler Andrew Arnold.

He is survived by his sons, Arlie M. Arnold (Terrie) and Kermit T. Arnold (Sandy) of Excelsior Springs. Also a brother, Keny K. Arnold of Shallowater, Texas, and sister, Dona D. Arnold of Dallas.

Jack has four grandsons: Olin (Jayla) Tannery, Jack (Leslie) Arnold, Trevor (Sara) Arnold and Trey (Sarah) Arnold.

Jack also has eight great-grandchildren: Alex, Olin, Jayden, Gabriel, Genesis, Jace, Evelyn and Emelia.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends contributions to Bethel Church in Polo, Missouri.
