James Thomas Stockwell, 92, of Excelsior Springs peacefully passed away on Aug. 22, 2023, at home while surrounded by his family.

J.T. was born to Miller and Thelma (Pierce) Stockwell on Aug. 18, 1931.

He worked in production for 36½ years at Owens Corning Fiberglass. J.T. was preceded in death by his parents, Miller and Thelma Stockwell; sister, Lorraine Becker; and niece, Janice Vick.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol (Wysong); daughters, Shauna (Rich) Johnson and Elaina Niemeier; grandchildren, Alyx (Nick) Hartwig, Garrett Niemeier, Ryan Niemeier and Trey (Shiann McGuire) Johnson, with a great-grandson due in December; and nephew, Gary (Barbara) Kindred of Germany.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Barbee Church, with visitation held 10-11. Burial followed the service at Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
