Janice Elizabeth Ritchie, 90, of Richmond, formerly of Lexington, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Janice was born on Feb. 24, 1930, in Fleming, the daughter of Robert “Bob” and Lois (Walford) Carmichael. She was first married to Lawrence Bayne of Lexington; he preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1969. he was then united in marriage to Clyde Jackson Ritchie on June 6, 1970; he preceded her in death on May 29, 2017.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald “Ronnie” (Sharon) Bayne and Robert Bayne, both of Lexington; daughter, Debby (Danny) Ginow of Lexington; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; fou sisters, Lois Gray of Cowela, Oklahoma, Dara Reeder of Kansas, Audrey (Jim) Neighbors of Alamo, Texas, and Helen (Jay) Justus of Warrensburg; stepson, Terry (Rhonda) Ritchie of Richmond; stepdaughter, Barbara Elam of Richmond; and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Thomas Bayne; two brothers, Harold Buddy Carmichael and R. E. Carmichael; and a sister, Wanda Wilde.

Janice was reared and educated in the area of her birth. She lived in Lexington, Lathrop, and Richmond. In addition to being a housewife and homemaker, she worked at Liberty Hospital as a nurse’s aide and retired from there in 1989. She was of the Christian faith, and enjoyed flowers, quilting and cooking.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Shirkey Hospice or the donor’s choice. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with graveside services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with graveside following visitation at 11:30 a.m. in Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington.
