John Booth

Nov. 17, 1949-Nov. 22, 2025 John Booth, son of Benjamin Earley Booth and Phyllis Darlene Gray, passed away at age 76 on Nov. 22, 2025, in New Port Richey, Fla. John was born in Omaha, Neb., and spent a good part of his life in Excelsior Springs. John proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army as a heavy vehicle operator. After returning home from the Army, he married Kathy Jones and went to work as a welder for Shippers’ Car Line Corp.

He later became an over-the-road truckdriver. In 1999, he retired from the Overnite Transportation Co.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Kay Booth; two sisters, Carla Higgins (Jay Morrison Sr.) and Sheila Baldwin (Larry); daughter, Kellie Clinton (Craig); son, Rex Booth (Jenny); stepson, Steven Settle (Melody); and stepdaughter, Jenny Cox (Steven). Other survivors include 10 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Gary Dean Booth; sister, Joyce “Sissy” Clariday; and first wife, Kathy Jones.

There will be a celebration of life 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the West Tracy Church of Christ, 27404 N.E. 144th St., Excelsior Springs, with a military ceremony at 3. Family and friends are welcome to join us to celebrate his funfilled life.

In lieu of flowers, we will accept donations for the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

John will be remembered for his warm smile, love of his family and ability to make everyone laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who love him.
