Joyce Gail Stewart was born June 5, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan., and passed away on Nov. 29, 2023.

She was the daughter of Johnnie and Arlene Brown.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gary; sister, Carol Lovett; son, Matthew Stewart (Lesley); daughter, Sarah Murphy (Michael); five grandchildren, Taylor, Breanna, Hannah, Parker and Joyce Stewart

Teegan; and one great-grandchild, Cohen.

She worked at Trans World Airlines for 36 years as a custodian of records. After retiring in 2001, she worked for H & R Block as a receptionist during the tax season for five years.

Joyce’s devotion to her faith and belief in God guided her selfless love for her family and her passion for helping others. She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, cross stitching, jigsaw puzzles and laughing over a good cup of coffee.

A visitation was held 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs, with the service beginning at 11:30. A graveside service for the immediate family followed at the Excelsior Springs Masonic Cemetery.
