Karla Kay Patterson, of Excelsior Springs, MO was born in Pittsburg, KS on Dec. 22, 1939. She passed away, Feb. 11, 2022, at her home, with her children and grandchildren by her side.

Karla had a life so beautiful and had a heart so deeply loved. She lived a life that mattered. She was kind, loving, caring and always encouraged us to live up to our highest potential.

Karla was an artist; she loved to paint and create cards. She loved the mountains. But mostly she loved being with her family. She brought a light so great to the world, that even after she has gone, the light remains.

Karla was the daughter of Carl and Bette Edwards. She married the love of her life, Lyle Patterson on May 16, 1958.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her sister-in-law, Jeanette Edwards; and her parents.

She left behind her three children, Dr. James Patterson (Melissa), Mike Patterson and Lori Schoonover (Donald); her five grandchildren, Taylor and Sydney Patterson, Alex (Taylor), Adam and Brady Schoonover; her brother, Carl Edwards (Annette); her niece, Julie Barta (John, Shannon, Mathew and Kendall); and her nephews, Mike Edwards (Sarah and Jack), and Tim Edwards (Leslie and Ella).

We will always hold her in our memories and find her in our dreams.
