Kenneth C. George, 86, of Excelsior Springs passed away Jan. 21, 2023.

A visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, at the First United Methodist Church in Excelsior Springs. A service and private family graveside service followed.

Kenneth was born on Oct. 19, 1936, in Independence to Lewis George and Holiece Noland. He graduated with the class of 1954 from Excelsior Springs High School. He was selected to attend Boys State by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Excelsior Springs.

Following high school, he attended William Jewell College in Liberty on a football scholarship. He also served in the Missouri National Guard.

Following the untimely death of his brother, he returned to the family farm and continued farming with his father. Kenneth was well-respected in the farming community for his affinity to work and handling cattle. He was always proud of his Clay County roots where he always lived and his ancestors had settled in the early 1800s.

Kenneth was a member of the Excelsior Springs First United Methodist Church for more than 48 years. He also was a member of Angerona No. 193 AF and the AM Masonic Lodge chapter in Missouri City.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Curtis George and Holiece Noland George; sister, Lorene George Clatworthy; brothers, Henry Arthur George, L.C. George Jr. and Richard Lee George; and brother-inlaw, David Cramer Martin.

Kenneth is survived by his son, Kenneth Stephen George (wife, Peggy George); grandchildren, Amber Lee George, Tyler Clay George (wife, Catlin Wisdom George) and Tracy George Braddy (husband, Justin Braddy); great-grandchildren, Asher Brett Braddy, Alice Ann Braddy and Athel Lewis Braddy; wife of 67 years, Judy Martin George; and sisters-in-law, Marylist Dillen George, Susan Martin and Barbara Martin Miller (husband, John Hart Miller); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives or a charity of your choice.
