Born in Excelsior Springs, MO on May 9, 1939 to Opie and Velma Dickey, Kenneth lived most his life in the community of Excelsior Springs. Upon graduating from Excelsior Springs High School, Kenneth attended Northwest Missouri State College, after which he served two tours in Germany in the United States Army.

Kenneth became the co-owner and operator of the Dari B Car Wash until his second retirement in 2004. After this, Kenneth spent most of his time volunteering for local organizations, serving at local churches, and serving on various city boards. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers HA and Don Dickey.
