Linda (Summers) Evans, of Lawson, passed away at Liberty Hospital from COVID-19 on Nov. 5, 2020, at age 74.

Linda was born on Jan. 11, 1946, in Excelsior Springs, to Walter Harold and Lillie Frances (Schmitz) Summers and attended Excelsior Springs schools. She was married to Charles Coleman from 1963 to 1970.

She worked for Vester Cates Ditching and Lawson Family Practice.

Linda is survived by her husband, Freddie Evans, and recently had a 50-year wedding anniversary. Also surviving are her sister, LayTena (Summers) Nickols of Lawson; daughters, Cathy (Coleman) Peoples of Knoxville, Melanie (Coleman) Johnson (and Todd) of Kansas City and Theresa (Evans) Hill of Excelsior Springs.

Other survivors include her grandchildren, Timothy Harris, Jerad Harris, Mason Harris, Taylor Harris and Cloey Denny; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew; and many cousins and extended family who all loved her dearly.

Linda had an intense love and devotion to her family, friends, faith and church. She was always ready to give a hug and was a source of caring and support to all who needed her. Her kindness and compassion knew no limits. Always a bright spot in a sometimes dark world, she will be deeply missed by many.

The family would like to thank the Liberty Hospital staff members for their kindness and care. We are truly touched by the outpouring of love and the number of people’s lives that she touched. Linda’s wishes were to have no funeral services. We have been contacted by a number of people regarding a possible gathering to celebrate her life, but even that would have to be discussed at a later date because of COVID-19.
