Louis Joseph Wisniewski, born Nov. 30, 1942, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022.

He is survived by Charlene, his wife of 58 years. He also is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Anne Carrington of Lake Stevens, Wash., and Kerri Luann Wisniewski of Liberty; his grandson, Jackson Blake of Lake Stevens; also Jackson’s father, Edward Moore of Lake Stevens; and two brothers, Ron and Mike Wisniewski of St. Clair Shores, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Louis and Marie; and one sister, Linda Henk, also of Michigan.

Lou’s pride and joy was his grandson Jackson. They formed a great bond over many days of building Legos together.

Lou was a teacher and coach for 34 years, coaching football, boys and girls basketball, and volleyball. Lou coached at every level, including freshmen boys basketball at Central Missouri State University as a graduate assistant. The thing that was unique about “Coach Wis” was that he enjoyed every level and made a great assistant. He was famous for his Tootsie Pop suckers at every game, including at his Hall of Fame presentation later on in life. Lou also was inducted into the Excelsior Springs Athletic Hall of Fame. Through all his years of coaching, Lou had only two losing seasons.

Lou suffered a severe spinal cord injury from a fall on April 22, 2022, and valiantly tried to regain his health.

A celebration of Lou’s great life and contributions to children will be held in the spring of 2023. Burial will be in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville to honor his years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Lou is so missed by his family and friends. We love you, Bobo!
