Monica Roney, 61, of Lawson, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, at North Kansas City Hospital.

She was born July 22, 1959, in Stuttgart, Germany. She immigrated to the United States in 1978 and married Pat Roney, formerly of Richmond. They raised three sons in Lawson before later divorcing.

Monica had several careers throughout her life, but she particularly enjoyed providing in-home health care services to the elderly. Monica loved her dogs and was especially fond of Daisy, and her rescue, Milo.

She enjoyed crocheting, traveling and shopping. Monica was the happiest when surrounded by her family and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Chris (Michelle) Roney, Centertown; Kevin (Becky) Roney, Lawson; Kyle Roney, Liberty; six grandchildren, Alyssa Roney, Patrick Roney, Hillary Roney, Bradley Roney, Maddison Roney, Julia Roney; three brothers (Gerald, Stephen, Tilo); four sisters (Regina, Margit, Elke, Tina); and one half-brother (Klaus), all of Germany.

Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Lawson.

The family suggests memorials contributions to Valley Hope Addiction Treatment Recovery of Atchison, Kansas, in lieu of flowers.
