Rachel Ann Jackson Payne died Aug. 24, 2019, in her final residence in Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehab Center. She was nearing her 91st birthday.

For more than 40 years Rachel served as a pianist and organist for the First Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs, and as a piano teacher to many students in this area.

Rachel's husband Theo Granville Payne preceded her in death as did a son Roger Payne, a daughter Melanie Peppers and a grandson Jeremy Sharp.

During her final week of life Rachel was surrounded by her four living children, Robert Payne, Crystal Cranor, Rebecca Morlan, Kevin Payne and their spouses, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family wishes to thank Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehab and Premier Hospice for their kind and thorough care during Rachel's last four months of life.

There will be no memorial service per her request.
