The Excelsior Standard, Aug. 11, 2023

Ramon Leon Rounkles, 82, of Excelsior Springs passed away Aug. 1, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family.

A visitation was held 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, followed by the service, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.

Ramon was born June 27, 1941, to Casey and Emily (Brozek) Rounkles in Kansas City. During his grade school years, he moved to Excelsior, which became his home for the rest of his life.

He created a successful plastics factory in 1963 at the old ice plant, now the beer garden at Wabash BBQ. He later moved the plant to a downtown location in Excelsior and ended up retiring in his mid-40s.

His hobbies were fishing and hunting, and he participated in many fishing tournaments. He loved sports, especially if it involved his kids, grandkids or great-grandkids. He never missed their games; and if it was football, he never missed a practice, either. He was always the lone spectator sitting in the stands during practice.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and we were so blessed to have him.

Ramon was preceded in death by his parents, Casey and Emily Rounkles; brothers, Rodney Rounkles and John Dinsmoor; sisters, Patricia Bisbee and Emilie Stevens; granddaughter, Andrea Lewis; great-granddaughter, Lilly Lewis; and nephew, Kimball Bisbee.

He is survived by a large family. They include his wife of 61 years, Sandra; daughters, Melissa (Jason) and Michele (Bret); son, Michael (Cassie); grandchildren, Amber (Reggie) Preston (Devyn), Brett (Katie), Austin (Abbey), Paige (Phil), Ella and Seth; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Wesley, Bella, Opal, Oliver, Rudy, Lucy, Emma, Theodore, Waylon and Barrett; brother-in-law, Larry Bisbee; sisters-in-law, Judy Rounkles and Cheryl Dinsmoor; and many nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Arrangements: Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. Phone: 816-630-3131.
