Renfro “Mac” McCubbin Jr., 84, of Liberty passed away Feb. 18, 2024.

A visitation was scheduled for 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Feb. 22, at Church Archer Pasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin St., Liberty. Graveside services with military honors were to follow at Missouri City Cemetery in Missouri City.

Mac was born Oct. 15, 1939, in Missouri City to Renfro C. McCubbin

He graduated in 1957 from Excelsior Springs High School, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Navy until 1963 and earned the rank of gunner’s mate aboard the destroyer the USS Manley.

After his military service, Mac worked for a short time for the Lake City Army Arsenal Plant. He then started a 39-year career for IBEW Local 124 as an electrician, retiring in 2001.

Mac married the love of his life, Nancy Lee Belden, and they enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage before his passing. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time outdoors, and with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Renfro and Dorothy McCubbin.

Mac is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy McCubbin; son, Kevin McCubbin; daughter, Tracy Sanders; stepdaughters, Sue Groenteman and Sandy Dinnocenti (Greg); grandchildren, Nathanial, Triston, Cole, Zoie, Blain, Lauren, Spencer, Jacqueline and Hayley; greatgrandchildren, Raydin, Hannah, Hunt, Henry, Rachel and Reneé; brother, Kim McCubbin (Nadja); nephew, Matthew McCubbin; and other relatives and friends.
