The Excelsior Standard, Dec. 22, 2023

Richard Daryl Ralston, 81, of Excelsior Springs passed away on Dec. 4, 2023.

Richard was born June 9, 1942, in Wichita, Kan. He was the oldest of three children born to Thomas and Cleo Ralston.

After briefly attending college, Richard joined the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. After his time in the military, he began a long, successful career as a draftsman.

Richard was the type of person to make friends everywhere he’d go, even the gas station.

It was at a dance hall that he met his wife of 30 years, Judy. Their families merged, and he took great pride in being with family, especially his grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Judy; children, Lisa (Joseph III) Cherco, Georgia (Mark) Carter, Linda Fodor, Dawn Marie Ralston, Michael Ralston and Betty Viola White; grandchildren, Brandi Traylor, Joseph Cherco IV, Kaitlynn Cherco, Christopher Ralston, Krista Six, Raina White, Christina Radestock, Melissa Lynch and Ashley Lynch; greatgrandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Tom Ralston Jr.; and many more extended family and friends.

A graveside service with military honors was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Terrace Park Cemetery.
