On May 30, 1980, he married Marguerite Ruth (Schifferdecker) Milligan at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Norborne. He was the patriarch of a wonderful, loving, fun family. He enjoyed being a husband, father and grandpa.

Richard was active in the American Legion and VFW. His hobbies included watching and attending NASCAR races and watching Kansas City Chiefs football. Richard made sure those two hobbies were taken seriously. He requested no visitors during this year’s Super Bowl, as he wanted no distractions.
