Robert (Bob) Henry Asbacher, 79, passed away peacefully in his home in Excelsior Springs on Nov. 23, 2020. Bob passed away from heart failure.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2020, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs. Family and friends are welcome to a celebration of life after 3 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2020, at his house.

Bob was born on Oct. 26, 1941, to May E. (Wilvert) and Robert W. Asbacher in Bronx, New York. Bob graduated from DeWitt-Clinton High School in Bronx, New York. He met the love of his life, Ruth Ann Schreiber, while both were working at North Side Savings Bank, Bronx, New York. They were married on Sept. 5, 1964.

Bob started working for the FDIC after his marriage as a bank examiner, and eventually was promoted to regional manager of the Criminal Investigations Unit. He held that position until he retired on March 28, 1997.

Bob loved participating in Civil War reenactments, shooting pistols and rifles. He was an expert marksman, participated in many tournaments, including a second-place finish in the Target Pistol 300 in 1981 and a first-place finish in MSP & PC 2700 Aggregate and a second-place finish in the PPC-NRA course in 1982, as well as several other awards over the years.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (1969), and May (2004); and his wife, Ruth (2018). Bob is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Christan (Doug) Carrithers of Excelsior Springs; and his son, Bob Asbacher of Kansas City. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Ashleigh Martin, Logan Martin, Seth Carrithers and Preston Asbacher; as well as his greatgranddaughter, Stella Martin.
