Robert Steven "Steve" Gregory, 63, died Mar. 4, 2022. He was born April 17, 1958, in Kaiserslautern, Germany, to Lt. Col Robert Raymond Gregory and Marjorie Ann “Fisher” Gregory.

As a teenager, he attended Mexico Missouri Military academy from 1971 to 1974 earning an excellent academic record along with being a sharpshooter for his expert marksmanship.  After military school he served his country in the US Army.  He came back to his hometown of Cape Girardeau, MO, and attended Southeast Missouri State University.  He was united in marriage to Kathleen Schaffer.  To this union was born a daughter, Brooke and a son, Seth.

Steve loved hunting, fishing, poetry, Shakespeare, and acting.  But most of all, he loved playing his guitar.  You could hear him often strumming his guitar and singing a country song.  He loved animals and once, he had a wolf he named Strider.  As a young boy he brought home a pup called Little Honey who was his loyal best friend.  He was always smiling and would jump at the chance for a new adventure.  He learned Spanish and spoke it fluently.  He once made a road trip with his Aunt Vickie and came back with lots of stories.  His favorite pastime throughout his life was pestering his sister Leslie.  He inherited his love of cars and mechanics from his grandpa William Thomas Fisher, and from there he ended up running a garage shop in Texas.

Left to cherish him and the memories they made together are former wife, Kathleen Gregory; daughter, Brooke (Brad) Perkins, and grandchildren, Tristan, Elena, Claire and Ethan; son, Seth (Kayla), and grandchildren, Lincoln, Lula and Lucas; sister, Leslie Gregory (Keith) Ruby; niece, Summer (Quinton) Bradfield; and grand-nephews, Lorenzo and Apollo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. Robert Raymond and Marjorie Ann Fisher Gregory; his grandparents, Flossie (Kittler) Gregory, Charles Gilbert Gregory, Edward Campbell, William Thomas Fisher and Mabel Yvonne Bird Fisher; and many aunts and uncles.

Services will be Sunday, April 24, 2022, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Gladstone Community Center, 6901 N. Holmes St., Gladstone, MO 64118.
