Roy Edward “Eddie” White, age 96, of rural Warrensburg passed away on March 20, 2023.

Eddie was born on Dec. 16, 1926, to Roy Howard White and Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” Claunch White. He attended the Greendoor School and later graduated from Centerview High School.

In his life, he was a farmer of grain and livestock, as well as a carpenter. On Oct. 22, 1950, he married Helen Virginia Robbins at her parents’ home in the Robbins community north of Warrensburg.

A great supporter of 4-H in Johnson County, Eddie served as a project leader in woodworking, electricity and other projects for over 25 years in the Mount Moriah 4-H Club. He received numerous 4-H honors through the years. In 2002, his family was one of several in Johnson County to be recognized for having over 100 years of 4-H work to their credit. He was awarded the Friend of 4-H and went into the Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame in 2017. He enjoyed attending 4-H and FFA activities, as well as sporting events for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roy Edward White is survived by his children, Anne Patrick (Ray), Tom White (Darles), Janet Morehead (Larry) and Roy Lee White (Carol); his grandchildren, Jim Livengood (Cheryl), Bryan Livengood (Melissa), Justin Patrick (Morgan), Barie Krewson (Paul), Hannah Copenhaver (Chad), Julie Mais (Matt), Andrew White (Stephanie), Rob Morehead (Brittany), Skyler Morehead (Abby), Cara Duchesne and Allison Bolt (Brad); his great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jarrett, Tyler, Austin, Atley, Adler, Brock, Maxwell, Wyatt, Clara, Olivia, Caden, Chloe, Fia, Teagan, Peyton, Lexi, Bailey, Trevor, Alyssa, Aubray, Rosalee, Curtis, Carolyn and Cooper; his greatgreat-granddaughter, Mahala; and his canine companion, Tilly.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen on July 2, 2008, in addition to his parents; his brother, Henry Howard White, in 1979; his sister, Alice Jennings, in 2012; his grandson, Travis Duchesne in 2019; and his greatgranddaughter, Ruby Morehead, in 2019.

Graveside services were held at Liberty Cemetery, north of Warrensburg.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Crest Ridge Dolly Parton Imagination Library at Crest Ridge Elementary School and can be left in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
