Sadie Almira (Rash) Prosser Smelden, aged 85, of Holt, Missouri, passed away Dec. 14, 2019, in Richmond, Missouri.

Sadie was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas. She is the daughter of the late Nathan D. Rash and the late Minnie V. (Hamilton) Rash. She married the late John R. Prosser in 1951 and they had three children, the late Dale R. Prosser, Clinton E. Prosser and Laura E. (Prosser) Eft. Sadie and John lived in Prathersville for nearly 30 years.

Sadie later married the late William Smelden.

Sadie worked for Dr. James Allen throughout the 1970s and later was a small business hardware store owner in Holt.

Sadie was very artistic. She painted many lovely oil painting landscapes and later enjoyed making porcelain dolls.

Sadie is survived by sister, Alta (Rash) Whitehead; son, Clinton Prosser; daughter, Laura Eft; and three grandchildren, Stephen Prosser, Vivian Prosser and Abbigayle Prosser.

A visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs with services immediately following at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, 200 S. Park Road, Suite 100, Hollywood, FL 33021, www.diabetesresearch.org.
