Shirley Ross

Shirley Coreen (Johnson) Ross was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Reger to Frank and Nellie Johnson. She peacefully passed away Feb. 16, 2024, at age 86 in the Excelsior Springs Hospital. Shirley was a graduate of Green City High School. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her love of exploring flea markets with her husband, as well as cross country motorcycle trips. You could always find her at the local thrift stores and auctions. She held the title of “Garage Sale Queen” with pride. Her vibrant spirit and warm personality touched the lives of many.

She is survived by her husband, Bobbie D. Ross of Excelsior Springs. Other survivors include her daughter, Tamara L. Cunningham; granddaughter, Emily J. Brand and husband Camden M. Brand; and grandson, Reed C. Cunningham, all of Kansas City. She also leaves behind her sisters, Wanda Roof of Lemons and Verla Rhoads of Green City; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers, and brothers- and sisters-in-law.

The family has entrusted the care of the arrangements to Bross & Spidle LLC of Excelsior Springs. We will miss her deeply and look forward to seeing her again one day.
