Dear Editor,

I just received my copy of the Standard and I always love reading about the great things our little town achieves and the success of the kids, families and volunteers in our community.

I was just tickled to read about the article ‘Junior football program breathes life into Roosevelt Stadium.’ I walk by the school regularly. I have always thought what a great facility it is and how somehow we have to find a way to preserve its significance to our community.  Many of us played sports and cheered on friends and family there.  The fact that over 80 young people and their families came to help clean it up and get it back in use, is so exciting to see.

The focus of families working together, hard work for a common goal and breathing life into our historical landmarks is so encouraging for teaching our young people preservation matters.  I look forward to hearing more good things about what these families and supporters are doing and know it is a large undertaking and will not be easy without the community’s support.  I look forward to watching some games and cheering on victories that once were so common on that ol’ field. Keep up the good work ESJF and keep us posted how we can help!
