To the Editor:

How good it is to see in The Standard that the Rainbow Trail is moving toward completion. The wide concrete walks are a nice improvement for people walking alongside U.S. 69. But how very sad people still walk in the street along Kennedy—VERY few people use the meandering miserable mulch trail that was put on the Linear Park last year.

How much better it would have been to put the broad concrete walks other areas have. Many thousands of our hard earned tax dollars were spent on a “study” by an Omaha group a few years  ago. One of the major suggestions was to put sidewalks along Highway MO 10—a path has been worn along that road, and it is dangerous for the pedestrians! I have yet to see any indication plans are being made to remedy this situation. Too many people wear dark clothing at night, do not walk facing traffic and generally make drivers a little anxious when meeting the pedestrians.

Surely some common sense in the spending of our tax dollars should be required!
