Banquet caps boys wrestling season

On April 2, Excelsior Springs boys wrestling coach Cody Beck recognized the hard work his Tigers had put in this season. That afternoon at the high school, the team held its end-of-season banquet. The event included an awards ceremony, with Beck handing out awards for the top wrestler at each grade level. Cooper Collins, the first freshman in school history to win a state title, took home the Freshman of the Year Award. Ryne Marcum and Hunter Scoma shared the Sophomore of the Year Award. Micah Danner received the Junior of the Year Award. Francisco Sanchez received the Senior of the Year Award. In addition, Danner, Scoma and first-year high schooler Gaige Carr were recognized for being firstteam Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division selections. Collins, Marcum and junior Lane Crowley were recognized for receiving second-team Blue Division honors, and sophomore Wyett Shipman and sophomore Anthony Circo were recognized for receiving honorable mention.
