Excelsior Springs varsity baseball coach Aaron Holst and his Tigers have the chance to do something unprecedented in program history – win a fourth straight district title.

The program’s latest title streak started in 2022 with the Class 4 District 15 championship. The Tigers also were Class 4 District 15 winners in 2023, when they finished third at state. Last season, Excelsior Springs won the Class 4 District 13 crown.

Like previous seasons, the Tigers are prepping for another postseason run by stacking their regular-season schedule with larger schools, as Holst pointed out March 22. Their opponents include Lee’s Summit West, Park Hill of Kansas City and Independence-based William Chrisman – all Class 6 schools.

Excelsior Springs also is aiming for its third 20-win campaign in four seasons. The Tigers went 21-19 in 2022 and 29-13 in 2023, then finished 19-16 in 2024.

“I think, if we do things right, we’re definitely a 20-win kind …
