Boys hoopsters continue pursuing first victory
Excelsior Springs continues to pursue its first win this season in varsity boys basketball.Following Tuesday’s home loss to Truman, an Independence-based school, the Tigers were 0-6 entering Thursday’s road meeting with Raytown South. That losing skid included an 0-3 showing last week in the Husker Classic, hosted by Lafayette County of Higginsville, with Excelsior Springs falling 66-29 to Richmond Dec. 10, 58-50 to Oak Grove Dec. 11 and 57-43 to Odessa Dec. 13.Excelsior Springs traded buckets early with Richmond. With the score 7-7, the undefeated Spartans took control with a 9-3 first-quarter run.Richmond then went on a second-quarter scoring tear to lead 32-13 at halftime. The Spartans finished it with a 34-16 second half.Easton Ryan led the Tigers in scoring with 10 points.
