EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers have ended the 2020 portion of their varsity boys wrestling season on a high note. The grapplers finished the calendar year with two competitions – a Dec. 15 triangular at St. Joseph Benton and a Dec. 19 team title at the Raytown South Holiday Tournament. Excelsior Springs started the Benton triangular against Lawson, with the Tigers winning the dual 54-24. Michal Danner got the Tigers headed toward victory with a pin in the third period of the 126-pound match. Junior Landen Davis took care of business at 132 with a first-period pin of Noah Walters. Senior Gunner Zirjacks then pinned Huntley Mather in 32 seconds at 145. Sophomore J.B. Prestia won his match at 182 with a second-period pin of Ethan Sinclair. Junior Trystan Gilbert then fell in the first period to Garrett Pair. The Tigers were open at 106, 138 and 285. Lawson was open at 120,160, 170 and 195. Both teams were open at 113.
