Casler, Rogers, Willis get wins at home meet

Sophomores Josie Casler and Kinley Rogers came through with winning throws when Excelsior Springs hosted the Mineral Water Classic. Casler was the girls javelin champion at the April 19 track and field competition, throwing 35.55 meters. Rogers won the shot put by throwing 10.35. Rogers also placed second in the javelin and third in the discus. She was one of two third-place finishers for the Excelsior Springs girls. Sophomore Kate Houck took third in the high jump by clearing 1.45. Pyper Layton completed Excelsior Springs’ group of top-four girls finishers. The first-year high schooler leaped 9.49 to take fourth in the triple jump. Casler, Rogers, Houck and Layton helped the Excelsior Springs girls place fifth in the team standings in with 64.5 points. Lawson won the girls title with 114 points. On the boys side, Excelsior Springs produced one champion – Kolt Willis.
