Excelsior Springs varsity softball coach Megan Gilbertson and her Tigers will soon be home for a while – for the most part.
After four straight road games scheduled for this week, the girls will return to Miracle Field to host a tournament Saturday. They’ll then play four of their last five regular-season games at home and host the Class 3 District 8 Tournament.
The softballers started their string of road games Monday by sweeping a Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division doubleheader with Winnetonka, 5-2, 13-0. The two victories put Excelsior Springs at 13-6 overall entering Tuesday’s divisional meeting with Kearney.
Excelsior Springs was slated to continue Blue Division play Wednesday at Grandview before hosting Saturday’s tournament.
