MAGIC NUMBER

Three proved to be the magic number for Orrick, in terms of getting its first win this season in varsity volleyball.

After losses to Lone Jack and Maysville, the Bearcats swept Penney of Hamilton 3-0 Sept. 2.

Orrick was slated to conclude a four-match homestand Tuesday against Carrollton. At press time, the Bearcats were set to face Richmond Thursday at Richmond.

STLL SEEKING VICTORY

Excelsior Springs was seeking its first varsity softball victory for new head coach Kristal Reeves this week.

The girls went 0-3 in their opening week, falling to Cameron 8-7 Sept. 1 on the road, Pleasant Hill 6-1 Sept. 2 at Excelsior Springs and South Harrison 10-7 Sept. 3, also at Excelsior Springs.

The softballers had three road games slated for this week – Tuesday against Odessa, Wedensday against Oak Grove and Thursday against Chillicothe.

BACK HOME
