EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – On Jan. 16, the Tigers hosted the other schools in the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division in boys wrestling. Junior Ayden Dolt led the Tigers and continued to dominate his competition by winning the 145-pound weight class championship. He opened by pinning Oak Grove’s Cole Chaney, then pinned Odessa’s Zane Palmer and Harrisonville’s Brayden Talley, and finished with a technical fall over Pleasant Hill’s Brayden Bush. Senior Gunner Zirjacks claimed a second-place medal by going 4-1. He opened by pinning Harrisonville’s Cort DeVenney. He then defeated Oak Grove’s Jordan Hall, Odessa’s Caleb Osburn and Clinton’s Tyler Lutjen. Zirjacks finished by falling to undefeated Garret Lyons of Pleasant Hill. Senior Damon Ashworth also placed second, picking up his first loss this season in the championship match at 160.
