ES basketball teams out of quarantine again as districts await

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – If there is a common theme for Excelsior Springs’ basketball teams this season, it would have to be quarantining. Both the girls and boys programs finished up another round of quarantining last week. The girls completed their third team quarantine of the season. The boys just finished their fourth quarantine as a team, to go along with two coaches and two players having to quarantine separately before the team’s fourth quarantine. “The hardest part of the quarantine for us has been losing rhythm and consistency,” varsity girls coach J.D. Biermann said. “Conditioning can be an issue as well, but not having a ball in the girls’ hands every day and playing has been the hardest part.” “The biggest impact for our teams has been players losing out on opportunities to create continuity as a team and stay in basketball shape,” varsity boys coach Chad Wright said.
