ES bowling quartet rolls to tournament title
GLADSTONE – One of Excelsior Springs’ club bowling teams was nearly perfect when the Tigers opened their season in a tournament Dec. 19 at Gladstone Bowl.
Excelsior Springs I, consisting of Brody Hurla, Olivia Smith, Joshua Oldham and Colt Bowman, went 9-1 and took the tournament title with 2,132 points – 75 points ahead of runner-up Park Hill.
Park Hill handed ES I its only loss, 183-174. The foursome then rolled over the competition, topping Lee’s Summit 177-136, Raymore-Peculiar 213-137 and Plattsburg No. 2 209-55.
ES I went on to defeat Oak Park 195- 148, Plattsburg No. 1 157-120, Staley No. 1 169-142 and Fort Osage 206-145. The team finished by dominating Staley No. 2 182-103 and North Kansas City 181-113.
Excelsior Springs II, made up of Quinlynn Davis, Anna Selby, Brock Hurla, David Falconer and Cole Dickey, finished ninth in the 12-team competition, going 4-6.
