The Tigers have been difficult to beat in varsity boys tennis since hosting their tournament. Following the April 12 competition, Excelsior Springs had won four of five duals entering Wednesday’s home meeting with Fort Osage. That string included two wins in three matches last week. The week began with an 8-1 shellacking of Richmond April 17 at Excelsior Springs. Seniors Carter Pitts and Colby Mueller opened with an 8-4 win in No. 1 doubles. Senior Lee Mueller and sophomore Austin Collins dominated the No. 2 doubles match 8-0. Seniors Matthew Rebello and Ethan Sams won the No. 3 doubles match 8-1. The Tigers won five of six singles matches. Pitts dropped the No. 1 match 8-2. Lee Mueller cruised 8-0 in the No. 2 position. Colby Mueller won 8-3 in the third slot. Rebello won 8-2 in the fourth spot. Collins and Sams each won 8-0. On April 18, Excelsior Springs fell 5-4 to William Chrisman on the road. The top two doubles teams each fell 8-4.
