LATHROP – On Feb. 3, eight Excelsior Springs boys wrestlers who had battled injuries or illness this season opted to get in some mat time by competing at the Lathrop Invitational. They were rewarded for their mat work with two individual titles and a secondplace team finish. Micah Danner and Ryne Marcum were the individual champions for the Tigers’ who tallied 169 points to finish as runners-up in the team standings. Danner, a senior, took the 126-pound title, going 3-0. All of his wins were by fall. Marcum, a junior, took the 132 title. Like Danner, he went 3-0, with all of his wins coming by fall. Junior Wyett Shipman and sophomore Cooper Collins each placed second. Shipman was the 106 runner-up. Collins went 3-1 en route to his second-place finish at 120. Juniors Hunter Scoma and Justin Wright each took third. Scoma fell in the winner’s bracket semifinals, then worked his way through wrestlebacks to place third at 175.
