ES girls grapplers visit Pleasant Hill, host tourney

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The latest high school girls wrestling season is underway at Excelsior Springs. The Tigers opened Dec. 4 at the Steve Leslie Girls Invitational at Pleasant Hill. Junior Jacey Brewer began her season with a first-period pin of Harrisonville’s Justice Jacobs. She won twice more by pins – first against Lydia Nelson, then against Southern Boone County’s Victoria Endsley – before Harrisonville’s Nonnie Justice pinned her in 52 seconds. Brewer’s 3-1 record earned her second place. In the 132-pound bracket, freshman Bailee Baxter dropped her opener to Harrisonville’s Chloe Fitzgerald by a first-period pin, while senior Jacky Perez pinned Nevada’s Teresa Dawn. Baxter then dropped her second-round match by fall to Dawn in the first period and Perez won a 5-4 decision over Fitzgerald. Round three pitted the two Tigers against each other, with Perez pinning Baxter in the third period. Baxter went on to beat Harrisonville’s Makayla Stewart in the consolation bracket and…
