Like their varsity boys basketball counterparts, the Excelsior Springs girls have wrapped their regular season and are readying for postseason play. The girls finished the regular season this week, facing Smithville Tuesday on the road in Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division action and Oak Grove Wednesday at Excelsior Springs. They’ll begin postseason play against Richmond at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at St. Pius X of Kansas City in the Class 4 District 14 Tournament. The winner will play for the title of the single-elimination tournament at 6 p.m. March 1, also at St. Pius. LAST WEEK The Tigers dropped five of their last seven games to finish the regular season. That stretch included a split last week – a 60-54 overtime victory Feb. 14 over Ewing Marion Kauffman, a Kansas City-based charter school; and a 76-15 Blue Division loss to Grandview.
