ES keeps winning streak going in varsity baseball

On March 25, Excelsior Springs’ season-opening homestand ended. Excelsior Springs’ season-opening winning streak, however, did not end. Nor did it end when the Tigers began their road trip Tuesday. The Tigers were 8-0 entering Wednesday’s road meeting with Fort Osage. The streak included a 7-0 homestand that began with a March 17 win over Independence-based William Chrisman, continued with doubleheader sweeps of Savannah March 20 and Winnetonka March 23 in the Excelsior Springs Tournament, and concluded with a Saturday afternoon doubleheader sweep of Cameron. Excelsior Springs crushed Cameron 11-1 and then 12-2. Play was halted in the bottom of the fifth inning of both games because of the 10-run mercy rule, per Missouri State High School Activities Association regulations. “We swung the bats really well today,” coach Aaron Holst said.
